Hello Kindergarten Families,
Just a few quick things this week to keep you in the loop:
100 Days of School Reading Celebration:
Be on the lookout for an invitation from your child for a Reading Celebration we will be doing on Wednesday, February 1st. It's the 100th day of school, and we have finished all the books in the Backpack Bear Series, so I'd like to give the students an opportunity to showcase their skills and celebrate their accomplishment! It will be on Wednesday, February 1st, from 12:30-1:15.
On Friday, the Kindergarteners took a computer assessment called the CPAA (Children's Progress Academic Assessment). It is the same assessment they took at the end of their Preschool Year, but adjusted to Kindergarten Standards. The reports, as well as suggested activities you can do at home, are being mailed out this week. While the CPAA is a wonderful tool, please remember that it is a snapshot of how they performed on one day, and not representative of their overall school performance. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
This week, we will be learning about Glassman. Please see the handout on Glassman to learn more about this tricky Unthinkable and how to defeat him.
We are wrapping up Topic 4, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10 and will be taking the assessment this week. I will send them home when we finish, so please be on the lookout.
Thursday, January 26 is an Early Release Day.
Smiles and Laughter!
