Daphne Stephens

6th-8th Grade ELA Teacher

dstephens@sjwca.org

Employed Since: 2020

My name is Daphne Stephens and I am the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA teacher. This is my third year teaching at St. Joseph but my 15th year teaching. I love middle schoolers! I look forward to exploring, learning, and having some great adventures together.

I have a masters degree in education, focused on 4th through 8th grades. Prior to coming to SJWCA, I taught technology and was in charge of everything with a plug. I love technology but find great value in pencils, paper, and projects.

I have lived in Texas, Alaska, Florida, and Georgia. Recently, my 19-year-old daughter and I moved to NYC from just outside of Atlanta, GA. I have a younger brother and niece who live in Augusta, GA. My parents live on Amelia Island, in Florida.

We are going to have a great year! No matter what the world throws at us, we can handle it. The number one rule in my class is respect. If we respect ourselves, each other, and the world around us, everything can be handled. Please know that I am patient and flexible. Lastly, communication is key. If you have any questions, concerns, or just general thoughts to share my email is dstephens@sjwca.org or you can contact me through Class Dojo.
