We are constantly impacted by media on a daily basis, yet I believe the impact on youth is even more powerful.  We are still figuring out who we are and what we want to stand for, yet we are constantly bombarded with images and statements of others telling us who we are or who we are supposed to be.  Figuring out our identity is one of the challenges of growing and developing into an adult.  Now this can be a FUN challenge with the appropriate encouragement and support.  Yet it is a challenge nonetheless.  And I believe this challenge is becoming more and more difficult for youth our age as media has become such a large part of our everyday lives.  Just think, Facebook now has ads pertaining to what we post about and magazines are made up of more advertisements than articles these days.  It is not only advertisements that are impacting our self-image, movies and tv shows are also depicting our generation as a self-absorbed, party first think later cohort.  It is time we do something about these negative messages media is sending out!
