Our Vision for Digital Citizenship

The Simi Valley Unified School District is dedicated to protecting students, teachers, and administrators throughout the district as technology becomes increasingly more prevalent in classrooms. As such, we encourage all stakeholders to gain a broader understanding of digital citizenship through Common Sense resources, by studying topics that include:

  • Creating, connecting, and safely and responsibly exploring the Internet;

  • Safeguarding from cyberbullying and maintaining privacy;

  • Developing relationships and understanding online communication;

  • Understanding the importance of copyright and the concept of creative credit; and

  • Evaluating the validity of online information (Information Literacy).

From here to anywhere.

Becoming a Digital Citizenship Certified District

In a Digital Citizenship Certified District, with the district's support and leadership, schools are dedicated to teaching digital citizenship to young people and engaging parents using Common Sense Education materials. To be granted Digital Citizenship District Certification, at least 50 percent of schools must have met the Digital Citizenship Certified School criteria, and the district must have a plan to reach the remaining percentage of schools over the next two years.

By earning recognition as a Digital Citizenship Certified District, administrators and educators are taking the necessary steps to equip students with the skills they need to be responsible online and meet E-Rate/CIPA compliance. For more information CLICK HERE.
