Google Contacts

This procedure is for managing contacts and email groups in your silverdaleba.org account or your sbaconnect.org account. Examples of each might be “English Teachers,” “Math Department,” or “5th Period Spanish 2.” 

It's also a great and under-rated way to store your login information and important information about other people in the "notes field" under every contact.

To add names to your Contact List
  • On the main google screen, click on the “apps” box (a 3x3 pattern of squares) next to your email address. Be sure that you are on your own account!
  • Click on the Contacts icon (see right)
  • Click on the white “+” button in the top left corner
  • Type in the email address of the person you want to add, then click "Save"

To delete names from your Contact List 
  • In your contact list, hover the mouse over the name you wish to delete
  • Click the "..." button at the right end of the selected row, then click "Delete"

To Set up a New Group
  • On your main email screen, click on the little “apps” box (a 3x3 pattern of squares) next to your email address. Be sure that you are on your own account!
  • Click on "Contacts"
  • Click on "Create New Label" near the top of the menu of items on the left
  • You will be asked to Name your label
  • First way to add people to your group (If you already have associates or students in your contact list from last year or prior contact):

    • Click on "Contacts"
    • Hover over the name you want to add, then click "..." at the right end of the selected row.
    • Change or add a label by selecting one of the labels listed. A checkmark will appear next to the selected label.

To Delete Names from a Group
  • Click on "Contacts"

    • Hover over the name you want to delete, then click "..." at the right end of the selected row.
    • Change or remove a label by selecting one of the labels listed. A checkmark will appear next to the selected label.
    • To remove all labels, simply click the checkmark.
To Rename a Group (This is very useful if you are teaching a class of students, a majority of whom you had in a class last year. You can rename the group to the new class name and then add/delete individuals)
  • On your Contacts main page, locate the label/group name on the left side menu.
  • Click the pencil icon to rename the label.
