PTS Mission Statement:

The mission of the PTS (Parents and Teachers for Students) is to involve all concerned Sacred Heart parishioners, parents and teachers in
providing the Sacred Heart Day School support in the development of each student’s God-given talents and potential.

The PTS has a six member elected officer board consisting of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, assistant treasurer and advisor. Officer elections are held every May.

At Sacred Heart we have a very active and well funded PTS. It provides a wonderful way to be part of your child’s education and meet other Sacred Heart parents and faculty in the process! The PTS organizes various services and special occasions for the school community. A limited number of fundraising projects are directed by the PTS to finance these events and many school improvements. An overview of the committees follows.

Art to Remember
A program that reproduces your child’s original artwork made at school, onto a variety of unique products. These products make great gifts for your family and friends. This committee works with the teachers at school to create the art work that is submitted to the company for reproduction, and then organizes the production and distribution of the program.
Back to School Ice Cream Social
This social event  is a great way for our families to get together and meet new faces and have fun. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success.
Bingo Booth
Each summer Sacred Heart hosts a church festival. Sacred Heart PTS sponsors the bingo booth for the festival. The Chairperson works with the festival committee and helps them solicit volunteers to run the bingo booth.

Book Fair
The spring Book Fair raises money for the school library. The chairperson on this committee works with the school librarian to organize the event.
Box Tops for Education
General Mills “Box Tops for Schools” labels may be turned in at the scrip table, the collection basket on Sunday, or sent to school with your student. They are tallied and sent to General Mills in the first quarter every year. The committee of volunteers prepares and counts labels for shipping. General Mills sends us 10 cents for every label we send in. Parents are also encouraged to send in any special offers they may receive from grocery stores, pertaining to “Box Tops for Schools” program. The BTFE website also has coupons, special programs, contests and other ways to earn $$ for Sacred Heart School. Be sure to signup, login and designate "SACRED HEART SCHOOL"  at the BTFE website
Butterfly Garden
A small committee maintains the garden area around the picnic tables by the playground. The committee weeds, waters and plants purchased items to keep the garden looking nice.
Christmas Letters
First and second graders write letters to Santa in the classroom and then receive a reply letter from Santa.
The committee arranges for after school learning opportunities and classes. These classes may be held at school or other locations (i.e. Fairfield Community Arts Center).
Family Social
PTS sponsors an annual family social. This family friendly event is not a fundraiser. It is a time for SHJS families to come together and socialize. Many volunteers are needed to organize and run this event.
Golf Outing
Every spring PTS organizes a golf outing. This event is open to all adults – parents, parishioners, family & friends! Many volunteers are needed to organize and run this event.
Homeroom Parents
Homeroom parents provide assistance to the homeroom teachers for special activities and parties. PTS provides $75 to each homeroom lead parent. This money is used to purchase items needed for a classroom party or activity the teacher approves. The Homeroom Parent Coordinator picks who the lead homeroom parent is for each class, sets up a meeting to train the volunteers, answer questions and offer support to the volunteers.
The hospitality committee purchases refreshments and decorations for the Welcome Coffee and Open House. Our volunteers also offer their time to work these events, set up and clean up.
Magazine Sales
The income goal for the magazine sale drive is to cover PTS operating expenses. Special projects are funded through other income sources, such as, Scrip, golf outing and pizza lunch. Full participation from all school families in the magazine sale is crucial for maintaining PTS sponsored programs for the school, such as busing for all field trips, teacher’s luncheon, ½ the cost of the 6th and 8th grade retreats, and guest programs. This fundraiser occurs early in the school year, with some of the work done over the summer months.
The PTS membership committee publishes a school directory each year. Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, this directory will be a free online resource for our families and staff.
Pizza Lunch
Throughout the school year PTS offers on Fridays a pizza lunch for the students. Orders are taken in advance and the students receive pizza, chips, fruit and milk. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success.
Recess Monitors
Parents volunteer time to help monitor recess activities. There are posted rules for our volunteers to read. A coordinator solicits the volunteers, sets up a work calendar and purchases all recess equipment that is needed.
Scrip (“Two Ladies & a Table”)
Sacred Heart PTS purchases gift certificates from popular retailers (like Kroger's, Kohl’s and Jungle Jim’s) at a discount. PTS sells the gift certificates to the Sacred Heart community at face value, generating revenue for the PTS. Parents then spend the certificates at the retailer, where they’re worth the full face value. Many volunteers are needed to organize this event.

Spirit Wear
PTS provides the opportunity for school families to purchase Sacred Heart School sweatshirts (hoodies for Junior High students) which can be worn as part of the school uniform, as well as other spirit apparel that can be wore outside the school. Orders are taken in the spring and fall.
Teacher Luncheon
Each spring PTS hosts a luncheon for the teachers and staff of Sacred Heart in appreciation of their dedicated service to the education of our children. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success.
Uniform Exchange
PTS provides the opportunity for families to “recycle” gently used school uniform apparel. Items no longer needed may be donated and made available for FREE to families of Sacred Heart School. You do not have to donate to receive these items. These items are stored at the school and are available during school hours. Also, at Pick Up Sunday the uniform exchange room is open. The chairperson solicits volunteers needed to keep the items organized.
Valentine Post Office
In February the PTS runs a valentines post office for students to send valentines to other students at Sacred Heart. Many volunteers are needed to organize and notify teachers and students of the event. All monies raised for this event is donated to a charity.

In the spring students spend the afternoon walking, laughing and eating a sweet treat. Ninety percent of the proceeds are designated for a specific school need and ten percent of the proceeds are donated to a local charity. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. This is a PTS fundraiser.
PTS publishes and sells an annual yearbook. Orders are taken in the spring. Yearbooks are sent home with students the following fall. Chairperson collects photos needed, picks a publisher, works with the publisher in the production of the yearbook, collects money and distributes all the books.
