The Shenendehowa Aquatic Center opened in August 2009 and is one of the premiere facilities in all of New York State. The pool is an 8 lane 25 yard stretch pool with a movable bulkhead that can allow for 3 different pool configurations: 25 yards of competitive swimming with a separate warm-up area; 25 meters of competitive swimming with a separate warm-up area; and 25 yards of practice lap swimming with a separate diving tank. The diving tank features a pair of 1 meter and 3 meter diving boards with a 14 foot depth mark. In addition to the pool itself, there is bleacher spectator seating for up to 750 patrons, a concession stand, trophy case, and men’s and women’s locker room facilities.
The pool is the home of the Shenendehowa Girls and Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Teams, 3rd Grade and Middle School Physical Education Classes, Learn-to-Swim Program, and numerous other community-based activities and is utilized from 5:30 AM-9:00 PM.
Since 2009, all Girls and Boys Section II Championships have been held at the pool and it is also available to be rented for Club Level Meets as well.
Swimmers will wear appropriate swim wear when in the aquatic center. Girls are required to wear one piece suits. Boys must wear swim trunks and may not wear cut-offs or shorts made of “jeans” or other materials. Both may wear a white/light colored t-shirt over the suit.
Swimmers must bring towels with them. Shenendehowa CSD does not provide towels to swimmers.
Swimmers may bring and wear their own goggles.
Swimmers are asked to shower upon entering the pool and after each use.
Interscholastic athletics will use the pool every day after school starting August through March for practice. The team will be able to conduct home meets and showcase the pool and the swimming/diving program by hosting events such as sectionals and select invitational meets.
The Community Education Office provides opportunities for lap swims, swim lessons, aquatic aerobics, life guard training. We also rent to the Clifton Park/Halfmoon Piranhas Youth Swim Club. Shenendehowa Central School District is now renting to other community and non-resident groups, as pool time allows.
To request rental of the swimming pool, diving tank etc, groups must fill out a building use form and submit completed, signed form with specific dates/times to the Community Services Office at the District Office. Please contact this office at 881-0612 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Lifeguards must be hired through Shenendehowa and the Aquatics Coordinator will decide how many lifeguards are required for a specific program. All regular facility use regulations apply.
