Weekly Report, 9/28-10/2

posted Oct 2, 2015, 12:46 PM by Deborah A. Diner
What a rainy week we had!  Despite the miserable weather, the students really worked hard and had a wonderful week.  I was also so glad to see so many of you at parent night!  If you ever have any other questions or concerns about your child's grade, always feel free to contact me.
What We Covered
*LA - Main Idea, reading journals
*Math - Ordering numbers, decimal place value
*VA Studies - the geography, products, and industries of the Coastal Plain, Piedmont, and Blue Ridge Mountain regions
*Science - Virginia's natural resources
What We Created
This week, we began working on Virginia state maps that will show the physical geography and water resources of Virginia.  Some students made topographical maps using salt dough, while others are using color-coding to show changes in elevation.
Looking Forward
Next week, we will take quizzes on our vocabulary words and on decimal place value, so we are ready to move onto our next set of maps: economic and population maps.  These are the last maps for our first big project unit!
