How Physics Makes Sport of Engineering, will be delivered by John Eric Goff, Professor of Physics and Chair of the Physics Department at Lynchburg College, Virginia (USA), who is currently on sabbatical at the University of Sheffield. His research interests include the physics of sport and he has written a book entitled 'Gold medal physics'.
Prof. Goff: "I am a physicist who studies sport. Many of my most fruitful collaborations have been with engineers. I will discuss some of the different ways physicists and engineers attack research problems. After highlighting some of my own research into Tour de France cycling and World Cup football, I will look ahead to the 2016 Summer Olympics, which begins this August in Brazil."
