Google Guide post-Go-Live Hangout on Air

posted May 7, 2013, 12:32 PM by Terry Korte, Supervisor   [ updated May 8, 2013, 3:23 PM ]

Drop in to this Hangout (Join) if you have any questions about the first few days of using Google Mail, or if you have suggestions for others.
It will also be live-broadcast on this page.  Submit your questions as comments on this page.

Are you thinking: "This is cool - I wish I had the software to do a live-video-feed of a presentation!"  Well you're in luck because you do!  It's all part of your EPS Google account (do I sound like the Sham-Wow! salesman yet?).  All of the hype aside, one of the great things about Google Mail is the features that are tied into it.  As part of the Video chat feature available today for all staff, you can chat 1-1 with other Google Apps users (inside or outside of EPS).  If you enable Google+ (a social media platform from Google), you'll be able to take advantage of multi-person video chats where you can do all kinds of fun things like share your screen with others, present to others, etc.  To learn more about how to use Google+, check out my friend Hank's site here.

Contact the ITS store if you need a webcam or a headset/mic combo.  They've got good, inexpensive ones for you.  And have a happy Hangout!

Core IT Q&A and Google Mail best practices: Mar. 7 - 3:30 - 4 PM

posted Mar 6, 2013, 1:42 PM by Terry Korte, Supervisor   [ updated Mar 7, 2013, 2:27 PM ]

In this live Google Hangout, the TIPS team will answer general project questions as well as address some of the key concerns and questions raised by District Technology after the migration to Google Apps.  We'll also discuss:
  • Best practices for organizing email
  • Our favourite labs and plug-ins and how we use them
  • What's up next for the project
Click here to view or join the Live Hangout.  You need to have Google+ enabled to participate, but you don't need anything just to watch - and you can watch it right here.
