About A.B.C.D.

To all Edmonton Public Schools!!!

We are pleased to inform you that in partnership with the Edmonton Public School Foundation, Old Scona Academic and M.E. LaZerte are hosting Edmonton’s first interschool dance off, A.B.C.D (AnyBody Can Dance). All high schools within the Edmonton Public School District are cordially invited to participate in this unique event!

As current students that wish to give back to our community, the aim of this event is to raise money for the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation. The Foundation supports student success by raising awareness and funds for full-day Kindergarten programs for children who are socially vulnerable and at risk academically.

To enter this event participating schools are challenged to come up with an entertaining dance routine to showcase their school spirit. We want to connect students and staff from the entire district in support of this cause. The show will take place at M.E. LaZerte High School (6804 144 AVE) on April 22, from 11am-3pm.

Each school will create a team and participate in this one-of-a kind competition that will give you a chance to showcase your school spirit, while giving back to the community of Edmonton Public Schools. Guest judges will be brought in from across the city and the top three schools will receive awards! Since the purpose of the competition is for everyone to show their school spirit, teams will receive extra points by including a variety of people within their team. Including members of the student council, sports teams, senate, and teaching staff will help increase your chances of winning! In the event that a team is unable to perform live, video submissions will also be accepted.

Not confident about your dance skills?

There is nothing to worry about! At this event, our focus is school spirit which is beyond your dancing! We want to see aspects such as energy & enthusiasm!

As the second part of the event, we invite dance performances by students all across Edmonton High Schools to be showcased along with the interschool dance off performances.. If you are interested in performing a dance a one minute video can be sent to abcdedmonton2017@gmail.com. Routines for dances performances must be a minimum of two minutes, and there is no limit to the number of dancers in these performances. Audition videos for dances open on February 25 and will close on March 29 . Chosen dance groups will be contacted by April 5.
