2014 Summer Assignments for the 2014-2015 School Year
Please note that you are required to complete the assignment(s) for the grade level you will be enrolled in at the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
MYP Community Service Grades 7-10
Community Service Worksheets will be locked on Friday May 30, 2014 and no more additions can be added until we have finished reviewing student hours for 2013-2014. Summer proposals will not be approved. I will begin reading proposals and approving activities for the 2014-2015 school year in August.
"Completed"- Students should not see the term "completed" within their Managebac account. Students have fulfilled the requirement with the hours and reflections for their grade level by posting the hours and reflections within the system. There is no need to request a supervisor review and the term “completed” should not appear. In Managebac, "completed" means the activity is finished and will never be edited again. At CB, students can work on the same activity proposal through 10th grade, so please do not request supervisor reviews or worry about the completed label.
Reminder- No hours may be completed over the summer for IB credit. Students must complete the required IB hours during each semester of the school year. Middle School must earn 5 each semester and High School must earn 10 each semester. IB students earn Bright Futures by completing the required IB hours.
Bright Futures- remember IB students no longer need to complete Bright Future proposals or final reflections. This is fulfilled with Managebac.
MYP and DP Summer Reading Assignments
Summer assignments are posted below and on Managebac. Summer reading and any assignments must be submitted when due. Specific due dates are on the assignments. Do not procrastinate!
MYP Personal Project
10th Grade MYP students must turn in a Personal Project Design Brief at Registration on August 12, 2014. No completed assignment = no schedule at Registration. Do not procrastinate!
All current 9th grade students (soon to be 10th grade) received the Personal Project manual on May 22, 2014 in Language Arts classes from Ms. McCarthy. This manual should be read by both parents and students over the summer. The personal project handbook can be found in the documents attached at the bottom of this screen. The Design Brief assignment is the last page of the handbook and must be signed by both the parent and the student before turning it in to Ms. McCarthy.
What is the best thing I can do this summer to prepare for next year?

DP Incoming Juniors CAS hours begin the first week of school in August. Incoming DP Junior summer hours will not be credited toward CAS.
