SHAKESPEARE PLAYS LINE COUNTS

Following a huge response we have added a new section to Shakespeare Line Count.com. Each and every Shakespeare play now has an outline with a breakdown of total line counts and line counts for each scene and act.

We have based our line counts on the highly regarded The Complete Works of William Shakespeare edited by W.J. Craig.

I hope that we have put the information in an easy to read and study format, enabling a quick guide to the plays and allowing for comparison of the scenes that form the makeup of the plays:

A Comparison of the Total Number of Scenes in the Plays

Love's Labour's Lost has the least number of scenes in a play by Shakespeare with only 9 scenes.

The Tempest has only 9 scenes and an Epilogue, while A Midsummer Night's Dream has only 10 scenes in total.

Antony and Cleopatra has 38 scenes in total giving it the most number of scenes in Shakespeare's canon.

Both Coriolanus and Henry V have 28 scenes while Cymbeline, Henry VI Part 1 and Henry VI Part 3 have a total of 27 scenes.
