What's Happening!

May 2, 2017  Update on Pastor Scott:
Two 2 weeks ago today (May 2), Pastor was pulling his garbage cans out to the curb & he suffered his first heart attack. One week ago today, he underwent open heart surgery with quadruple bypass at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. Today, he is recovering at home after a 12 day hospital stay. There were some serious glitches along the way, but Pastor clings to a verse his wife gave him on April 21, just 4 days before his surgery--
Psalm 73:25-26.

In his absence, there are several guest preachers filling in for him.
Pastor Mark Tiller from Chain of Lakes Community Bible Church will fill the pulpit
on 3 consecutive Sundays - April 30, May 7&14. Others to be announced soon.
Please keep Pastor Scott in your prayers &
please ask our Great Physician to restore his strength & health very soon.
Thank you!

National Day of Prayer Task Force

Thursday, May 7, 7pm

“Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.”

The 64th annual National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2015, will have profound significance for our country.  It is an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on Christians to humbly come before His throne.

Our theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Cry, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men.  To further highlight our theme, we’ve chosen
1 Kings 8:28 as our Scripture for this year:
Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.”

It is a ministry of Samaritans Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org). Packing a Shoebox is fun but it also has eternal value! Children are presented with the Gospel in their own language and as a result entire villages have given their lives to Jesus! Our collection day is Sunday, Nov. 16 at the morning service. After praying over the boxes & for the children who will receive them, we deliver them to a Drop Off Center, where they will be picked up by a semi & brought  to the Processing Center in Minneapolis! Our boxes take quite a journey! Please check their website for a Drop Off location near you! Merry Christmas! And thank you!

Sunday, October 19, 12:30-1pm - Come & join us as we humbly proclaim LIFE! We're having a small Life Chain in front of the church for 1/2 hour. We will hold signs that say "Abortion Hurts Women" or
"Jesus Heals & Forgives", etc. It is a silent vigil where we spend time praying for the passing cars & that maybe, just maybe, a woman will change her mind about having an abortion. The bible says "For You have formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully & wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and my soul knows very well. " Psalm 139:13-14
Want to be blessed? Read all of the 139th Psalm!

April 27, Sun evening: Teaming up with LifeSpring & Community of Faith, SGBF is hosting the Creation Seminar. Doors open @ 6:30. Program starts PROMPTLY@ 7pm. Invite everyone you know for this lively & informative presentation of truth. From Creation Ministries International, Dr. Jonathan Sarfati, scientist & author, is our speaker. Bring the doubters & the believers! Did you see the movie "NOAH"? Can it be true? Come & find out for yourself! Bring your questions & a notebook!  Whether you are Agnostic, Atheist, or Theist, this night is for you! Everyone comes from a starting point. Our culture seems to suggest science has only objectivity as a starting point, but is that really true? Come, listen and join us in asking the question: "Can Real Science Support the Bible?"  In this session Jonathan will help us see the bigger story of scientific data and how it does support a worldwide catastrophic flood.  We will also see how this fits into the larger narrative of the Biblical account: God made everything perfect, sin messed everything up,the consequences were global, & what is the solution. This forms the basic history of God with His people and it helps us make rational sense of the world around us.Since it is the historical record of God's creative process it does fit with the evidence we have in science today. Join us for this big picture lecture.

May 17, Sat. 10am: 2nd “Biker Blessing”. Can you help out?

June: Our Missionary John Tobin will be in the States & we have invited him to preach
on June 22 & 29. Don’t miss it!
