Culinary students are heating up the kitchen and all for a good reason. Culinary students were involved  several charity projects in the 2010-2011 school year; including 17 gingerbread houses for Fantasy of Trees, with all proceeds going to Children’s Hospital. Other charity events that were big successes included; A Soldier’s Child, which provides birthday gifts to children of fallen soldiers; as well as preparing food for the veterans who come to be honored while attending the SCHS Veterans Day Performance.

Sevier County High School’s Culinary Program was voted by Sullivan University as one of the top-rated culinary programs in the State of Tennessee. The students participate in catering on and off campus, and they have catered over 50 events this year. These events vary from students arriving at 5:00 a.m. to prepare breakfast for staff events to banquets for the Cattleman’s Association.

In Culinary Arts it’s not all work, it’s also play.  Students get to participate in local food shows, and third year Culinary students take a trip of a lifetime to the National Restaurant Association Food Show in Chicago, Illinois. This food show highlights big business, famous chefs, and upcoming new products.
