Brushes

What: Look up free downloads of brushes (.ABR) on google.

How: Download them and create an image.

Why: Often, there are tools available to us that allow us to get the look we want instead of long tutorials. Know your tools helps you make stronger images and allows you to represent the vision in your head in PS. To be creative and have fun!

How to MAKE your OWN signature brush!!

Open PS

Make a 8in x 8in 300ppi document

Click on the BRUSH TOOL

Using the regular brush,

WRITE YOUR SIGNATURE

Using the marquee tool, select the portion of the writing that you wish to use for your brush.

Once selected,

go to edit,

define brush preset,

and give your signature brush a name.

Now you can stamp your name!

To export your own brush,

go to the brush settings,

select "save brushes."

You will save your brush as an .abr file (you will get all of the other brushes loaded at that time. You can then load this brush when you need it.

Brushes allow you to add to your image in so many different ways, it's hard to keep track!!!!

They may become your favorite tool.

We've used brushes before with spot healing, clone stamping, colorizing, signatures and more!

To adjust these go to WINDOW > BRUSH.
