Instructions for Homework

Please make sure that all homework is done then pasted in the pasting notebook AT HOME every night. (Run the glue stick along the top pink line only, not all over the page).

When a CAPITAL and LOWER CASE LETTER is written on the top of the page of the pasting notebook, the children are asked to find THREE pictures (from magazines, newspapers or on-line) which have the initial beginning sound of that letter (We learned the letter that day in class). Please make sure that they CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook. If you do not have magazines, newspapers or access to the internet right now, they can DRAW and COLOR three pictures on different piece of paper and then CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook (please do not make them draw the pictures too often).

When a COLOR is written on the top of the page of the pasting notebook, the children are asked to find THREE pictures (from magazines, newspapers or on-line) which are that color. Please make sure that they CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook. If you do not have magazines, newspapers or access to the internet right now, they can DRAW and COLOR three pictures on different piece of paper and then CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook (please do not make them draw the pictures too often).

When a NUMBER is written on the top of the page of the pasting notebook, the children are asked to find THREE pictures (from magazines, newspapers or on-line) which have that number of items in the picture. Please make sure that they CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook. If you do not have magazines, newspapers or access to the internet right now, they can DRAW and COLOR three pictures on a different piece of paper and then CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook (please do not make them draw the pictures too often).

When the phrase "___________ is Here" is written on the top of the page of the pasting notebook, the children are asked to find a THREE pictures (from magazines, newspapers or on-line) which is related to whatever "is here" (example - "October is here" - children must find three pictures related to October). Please make sure that they CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook. If you do not have magazines, newspapers or access to the internet right now, they can DRAW and COLOR three pictures on a different piece of paper and then CUT and PASTE the three pictures into the pasting notebook (please do not make them draw the pictures too often).

When the phrase "I see __________" is written on the top of the page of the pasting notebook, the children are asked to find ONE picture of a person and pictures of whatever it is that "I see" (example - "I see 2 black cats" - children must find one picture of a person and 2 black cats). Please make sure that they CUT and PASTE these pictures into the pasting notebook having the person LOOKING AT the other pictures. If you do not have magazines, newspapers or access to the internet right now, they can DRAW and COLOR the pictures on a different piece of paper and then CUT and PASTE them into the pasting notebook (please do not make them draw the pictures too often).

Any Homework under the 
picture is for the Blue Dolphins Literacy Group only.
 
Any Homework under the picture is for the Yellow Ducks Literacy Group only.

Spelling Homework (Starting in January)
Spelling homework is done in a separate writing notebook.
 
Mondays and Thursdays - Write each spelling word 3 times.
                                              (fold the page twice to the red margin)
 
Tuesdays - Write each spelling word in a sentence.
 
Wednesdays - Put spelling words in ABC order.
                         (fold the page once to the red margin)
 
Fridays - Write each vocabulary/story word in a sentence.

Lexicography Homework (Starting in February)
Lexicography homework is done in a separate lexicography notebook.
 
Your child is given two new words per day in class along with the definition of each word and a sentence for each word. For homework your child must write his/her own sentence for each word.
