Yom Hashoah Remembrance
Yasher koach to all the clubs in the Seaboard Region
who made so many conscientious efforts in commemorating the Shoah. We want to
especially acknowledge the clubs that distributed FJMC Shoah Yellow CandlesTM to their communities. A double yasher koach to those
six clubs that distributed Shoah Yellow CandlesTM to each family in their congregation. That’s the
Seaboard FJMC ideal - light a candle, preserve a memory.
On Sunday evening, April

celebrate the power of human spirit and the enduring faith of those who
witnessed and survived the Holocaust as it remembers those who lost their

Seaboard In Israel Trip on October 30-November 11
Space is still available for this wonderful
opportunity to visit our homeland on this first such trip sponsored by a
region of FJMC. We designed it for empty nesters and scheduled it for the
delightful fall Israeli weather. It will not conflict with synagogue trips,
held in the summer and focused on families with Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. Many such
synagogue trips have now closed their registration.
Hence, please pass information about the trip to your
congregants so that they can take advantage and join us on this exciting and
well-priced adventure. Early registration is encouraged as the airfare is not
fixed until you purchase tickets, and will surely go up. See attached flyer.
2012-2013 Quality Club Awards.
Just a reminder about this wonderful way to honor your
club and to grow your image in your synagogue - take a moment to download the
form and send it in. You probably already qualify. Seven Clubs were
presented Quality Club awards at the recent BYMOY Dinner. In fact, between 2006
and 2010, Adas Israel, B'nai Israel, Chizuk Amuno, Congregation Beth El of
Norfolk, Beth Israel, Rodef Shalom, Beth El of Bethesda, Beth Emeth. Olam
Tikvah, and Har Shalom all won the Quality Award one or more times. Many others
qualify, but simply haven’t downloaded the form and sent it in.
As Club Presidents and Leaders, you owe it to your
members to take note of their accomplishments giving them a “Yasher Koach”, and
then by submitting the wonderful news to your synagogue newsletter.
for the simple form and instructions.
Have you a great program that you’d like to share? The
Torch Award program captures such ideas and makes them available to all. The
Yellow Candle program came out of a Torch Award. Applications are simple to
complete and will be accepted only until Sunday, May 5. Awards will be
presented at the FJMC Convention. Many of our clubs have received these in the
past. Why not yours?
See http://fjmc.org/content/award-criteria for more ideas.

FJMC’s Sefer Haftorah is touring the country and dates
are open in November and December 2013 for a visit to your congregation. The
Sefer Haftorah project, started in 2003, provides a unique opportunity for
clubs to teach and talk about this special scroll at a Shabbat Service and or
with religious school students.
Club Presidents are encouraged to contact President
Bill Becker (email@example.com)
for more information and to schedule a visit. Four clubs have already signed up
for December and there
is room for more.
