Reading 7 Work Hard. Be Kind.

A Few Ways to Support Your

7th Grade Reader!

  • There are multiple positive effects of students being read to and students seeing their family read. If we want our learners to read, we have to walk the walk.
  • By reading, your learner builds positive associations with reading, is willing to take reading risks, and Is exposed to significantly more vocabulary.
  • The more students read, the larger their vocabulary becomes and the more texts they can understand and apply. Exposing your learner to books, in ways that show how awesome books and reading are, is one of the best ways to develop their love of reading.

Research continually shows us that, “Independent reading is the best predictor of reading achievement and also the best predictor of the amount of fluency gains in reading.”

This is my 23rd year of teaching at Southeast Warren. I have been married to my husband Todd for 33 years and we have three grown children and 6 adorable grandchildren.

Most of my free time is spent enjoying my family but I also like to cook, plan adventures, enjoy time with friends, and of course read.

I can't wait to meet all of you and really look forward to a fun school year! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. We are a team in your child's educational journey!!
