All elementary schools within the Springdale Public School district are transitioning to a standards-based reporting system for the 2016-2017 school year with support from District Administration and the endorsement of the Springdale School Board.
The new standards-based report card was developed over the course of the 2015-16 school year using current research and Arkansas Frameworks. The report card committee was composed of instructional facilitators, ToSAs, ESL specialists, and principals from schools across the district. The standards based report card was piloted at two buildings during the spring of 2016. Survey data from teachers and parents was used to develop the final versions of the report card.
In the Springdale standards-based report card, each subject area is divided into a list of skills and knowledge by quarter that students are responsible for learning. Students receive an achievement mark of either 3, 2, or 1 for each standard. The achievement marks indicate a child's progress toward meeting the specific Arkansas grade-level standards.
For the first year of implementation the report card will be accessible as a fillable PDF file with a paper copy send home to parents. Professional development for teachers will be provided before the beginning of school and parent information will be available online at at each school building. Sample copies of the report card for each grade-level are accessible to view using the links on this page.
