The Springdale School District has a long history of commitment to excellence. Part of that commitment entails helping every student meet his/her potential. Arkansas Act 445 of the Quality Education Act includes the provision that all districts must provide a program for gifted and talented students. Advanced Placement (AP) classes give academically talented (identified and non-identified) students the opportunity to take college-level courses in high school. Springdale AP teachers use college-level materials and course standards provided by the College Board. These course standards provided students with a rigorous curriculum that reflects courses taught in colleges.
In May of each year, AP students take exams administered by the College Board. Depending on scores attained on these tests, and on whether or not a college or university accepts AP grades, a Springdale student may gain college credits.
