Helps readers understand the text by having them "interact" with what's being read.

Annotation Key

-NUMBER paragraphs or sections (it will be easier to go back and find information)

-CIRCLE key terms

-defined words

-repeated words

-sources (people, places)

-Underline Claims and evidence. Put a "C" next to the claim, an "E/R" next to the evidence and reasoning that supports and explains the claim.

-WRITE in the left margin a summary of each section (use bullet points)

-What is the author saying?

-WRITE in the right margin deeper information
