Welcome to a new school year!  I look forward to working with you to insure that your child has a successful school year.  With this in mind I have provided the following information that you will need to review with your student. Your child is responsible for following these rules and expectations in my classroom.

Projects/Labs/Reports/Tests/Quizzes (70% of grade)

(Retakes on a failed quiz/test accepted on an individual basis when the student attends extra study sessions and has a parent signature on the quiz/test--- the retake grade is then averaged in with the original score)

Classwork/homework/participation              (30% of grade)

* In Co-teaching classrooms (7th gr/8th gr. science, 8th gr. social studies) I am the teacher of record for your student

Homework is to be completed on time.  In order to meet individual student needs, students may stay after school on the day of a missed homework assignment in order to earn credit on it. In case of an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to request the missed assignments on the day of return. I am available for additional help on homework during lunch (by appointment), before school (student must arrive by 7:30 a.m.) and after school by appointment.

Classroom Discipline

It is important that school and home work together to guide students toward a stronger sense of self-discipline.  The following plan is in place in order to provide a positive/productive learning environment.

  1. Be Safe                                     3.  Be Responsible

  1. Be Respectful                         4.  Be There, Be Ready

     Consequences Rewards

    1. Warning/delay 1. Behavior Bucks

2. Parent contact/consequence    2. Classroom store

3. Office Referral 3. Good News Note

(Individualized behavior contracts are implemented at teacher’s discretion)
