Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

We will pick up the pace in reading our class novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor. Conflicts will escalate, in-depth character traits will be revealed, and tense plot events will unfold. Our students will make insightful observations and connections to this gripping novel, and many may share family stories that relate to the time period and circumstance. What better way to comprehend a story than to be able to step into a character's shoes and understand his or her motives.

We have finished the first chapter of the book, discussed the events and summarized,  and will now move on to reflecting about what we are reading through writing constructed responses, taking quizzes, making character analyses, determining author's style and message, examining tone and mood, point of view, symbolism, and through other creative responses.

****Please check my File Cabinet for our novel online and an audio version - two fantastic resources for completing homework, especially if a student needs extra support or has forgotten his or her materials.

***Also, please check my Calendar for due dates on assignments, tests, and quizzes.
