How do you make a good first impression - do you pretend to be something you're not to impress? Or are you yourself and let others decide their opinion of you? This week we are reading a popular short story by a popular young adult author and it is appropriately entitled "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto. We are examining the stages of plot, learning new vocabulary, practicing our annotating and summary skills, and making connections to the characters and story. Students enjoy this story because it is so real, and they can eventually answer the question of first impressions for themselves.

As usual, please check the homework calendar for any assignments due, and make sure your student is reading at least 20 minutes (more is better) each night.
