This week and the next, we are focusing on two wonderful short stories as we review stages of plot and elements of fiction. The stories are the classic "The Dinner Party" by Mona Gardner and "Seventh Grade" by popular young adult author Gary Soto. These two stories will allow us to contemplate and analyze character motivation, apply our understanding of stages of plot, and use our reading strategy of making connections and predictions. We will be responding to these stories through written reflections.
As always, students are expected to read outside of class a minimum of 20 -30 minutes per day in their independent reading book and critically thinking about their book through their Reading Workshop Journal page. Please check the calendar for upcoming due dates.
