Parent Letter

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

Welcome to Visual Art!  Your child will have the opportunity to develop their original ideas with 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional projects, develop craftsmanship and technical skills, and develop creative problem solving skills in this class.  They will continue to develop their knowledge of visual communication by applying the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design to their work.  They will learn about a variety of fascinating artists, important historical  periods  of art and embark on a journey into career connections in Art.

Through reflective instruction and the dedication and effort that your child applies to their work, they will be able to engage in proper procedures in the creation of their work, construct and decorate with tools and equipment, exhibit best practices for safety procedures, and create a  portfolio by the end of the class.

In order for your child to prepare and achieve in this class on a daily basis, please check with your child that they are bringing the following to class:  2 pencils, 1 large eraser, colored pencils or markers, other materials if they wish, a small glue bottle, a folder with notebook paper, their assignment notebook, and a container to house their art in.  When we are working with paint, clay, plaster, or ink, students should bring a workshirt to class.

Should you have any questions, please contact me at (708)450-2735 x 1223.  I look forward to your partnership.
