We have cancelled all after-school programs, games and activities for today (1/4/17) and in addition all schools will be closed tomorrow (1/5/17). Following is the plan for the remainder of the day and for tomorrow.

The District has cancelled the Pocatello/Highland and Century/Preston basketball games and the Pocatello/Bonneville wrestling match, scheduled for tonight. Additionally, the District’s After-School Program for today has been cancelled.

Schools will be dismissed at their regular times today but we anticipate that some buses may be late dropping off students.

The District will close all schools tomorrow (1/5/17). The decision to close schools was made early because of multiple factors:
  • The severe winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service earlier today which forecasts an additional 4 – 8 inches of snow and temperatures -26 with the wind-chill factor
  • It is anticipated that roads will not be able to be cleared by city and county street departments from today’s storm or from the 4 - 8 additional inches of snow that is expected overnight
  • The District needs at least 24 hours to clear bus pick up and drop off lanes and parking lots at schools.
All after-school games, after-school programs and extracurricular activities will also be cancelled.
