A safe, supportive, caring and respectful environment is critical to student learning. This department maintains 28 separate educational facilities encompassing over 1.6 million square feet of educational space. The School Plant Facility fund has been supported in the community for over 60 years providing additional local funding to help maintain, renovate and construct new schools. The Department processes nearly 13,000 work orders annually and provides a full range of custodial, grounds, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and maintenance services from within its staff of trades professionals. The Department also maintains a comprehensive HVAC centralized control system which provides utility savings under the Energy Conservation program. Utility savings or cost avoidance in natural gas, electricity and water consumption range from $650,000-$750,000 annually.
