The Southern Regional Education Board will provide training for Literacy Ready and Math Ready June 14-16, 2017, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The training will be for three days, Wednesday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Schools will need to cover lodging and transportation costs. Please use the registration link below to register for the training. Registration is available until June 2, 2017.

This course is designed for high school seniors who have completed Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and need a transition course to get them college-ready, thereby avoiding remediation when entering college. This course emphasizes understanding of mathematics concepts rather than just memorizing procedures. By engaging students in real-world applications, Math Ready develops critical thinking skills that students will use in college and their career. SREB June 14-16   This course utilizes a disciplinary literacy approach that teaches students strategies for reading and understanding complex texts in different subject areas. Students learn to develop and defend ideas from textbooks and write about them in college-level formats for English, history and biology. The Literacy Ready course has been updated to include three units in English, three units in history, and two units in science for schools to choose from.
