Welcome to the SCOE Zimbra to Gmail migration web site
SCOE will be moving from Zimbra to Gmail and Google Calendar over the next two months. You'll find everything you need to make this transition as smooth as possible on this website. You will be receiving regular email updates from the Tech Use Committee regarding the process, and those emails will also be archived here. Be sure to check the FAQ page regarding any questions that come up. We will be updating that page as we receive additional questions.
Start by deleting unnecessary emails from your Zimbra account. SCOE IT will convert all of your Zimbra emails, contacts, and calendar items to Gmail and Google Calendar.
Accessing your new Gmail account
To get to your new Gmail account, go to mail.scoe.org. You will log into your Gmail account with the same username and password you use to log into your Google Drive and Docs account. This is also the same password Windows users use to log into their systems and Mac users use to log into the F: and G: drives. If you don't know this login information, call the IT Help Desk at (707) 524-8324 or email firstname.lastname@example.org from another email account.
Setting up Gmail on your mobile device
To set up Gmail on your iPhone, follow the instructions here. To set up Google on an Android device, follow the instructions here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your folders will migrate over from Zimbra to Gmail. Gmail uses the term labels instead of folders. If you have folders stored inside your Inbox, you should move them outside of your Inbox to ensure that they migrate properly. Here is a document that provides more details. Here is the official Google documentation on using labels vs. folders. Following is a link to a good introduction to understanding labels in Gmail: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3020447/data-center-cloud/folders-and-labels-the-trick-to-organizing-gmail.html
