WHAT TO EXPECT IN FOURTH GRADE READING:

During our fourth grade year we will read SO many fun and amazing stories. We'll read stories from Journeys, picture books, and some amazing chapter books as whole class read alouds. We will learn reading strategies like determining the theme of story, character traits, inferences, and MUCH more! Here are some chapter books that we will likely read this year (subject to change if Miss V finds something more exciting!) if you could avoid reading these books until we do so as a class, I would GREATLY appreciate it! If you have already read any of these books, that is totally fine! No spoilers please!

-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

-Fish in a Tree

-Holes (Novel Study, we will DEFINITELY read this!)

-Wonder

-Ella Enchanted

WHAT TO EXPECT IN FOURTH GRADE WRITING:

Throughout the year we will create MANY writing pieces together. Past students have really enjoyed our writing time! We will create fictional, persuasive, and informational pieces just to name a few. We also will focus on learning parts of speech and figurative language!
