(Originally posted on 2/12/12) This morning, bright and early (well OK, it was really around 9:45), the moving crew and truck showed up at our front door. The weeks of sorting, selling, throwing away, and packing paid off. We now have an empty house. The entire house looks like this empty room. What a great way for us to celebrate our 28th wedding aniversary! Three young guys showed us how to take the entire contents of a 4 bedroom home and load them all into a 28-foot truck. They showed us feats of strength and organization skills that were amazing, but this was only the opening act. The main event was scheduled to begin a little later in the day. They took the contents of the truck and somehow managed to pack them into a 10 x 12.5 foot storage unit. Here are a couple of shots of the layers that were built while they loaded it. I was pretty sure that we were going to have to get rid of some of the stuff we decided to keep, but these guys proved us wrong. Not only did they get everything in, there is still room for a few more items that need to be brought down there. The money we spent on the move was very well spent. We couldn't have packed it like this without them. This was a big step. Closing is this Friday and we are now living in the motor home. Here is the crew that performed the amazing feats. For my friend Bob Ewald, when you click the photos, they get bigger. |
