Queens College Family Day June 3rd

Dear Scholars' Families,

The City University of New York (CUNY) along with the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation will provide an opportunity for families to tour Queens College and further enrich the college access experience! There will be free food, prizes, workshops on college affordability, performances, key-note speakers and more! There are limited spots available for this event, so please register as soon as possible, as registration is on a first-come, first serve basis.

Rockaway Earth Day Event May 6th

The Rockaway Waterfront Alliance is having their 11th Annual Earth Day Rockaway event on Saturday, May 6th.  It is a fun afternoon filled with free activities intended to raise awareness of the natural resources along the Rockaway shoreline.

Access to Opportunity NYC Department of Transportation

Dear all,

The NYC Department of Transportation is inviting young people to attend the Access to Opportunity project at the Queens Library for Teens next week on Tuesday @ 3:30. This is a special event because the city agency is interested in youth input for the project. See attached flyer for details.  

JDRF 2016

The Annual JDRF walk will be held on Saturday June 4th this year in Howard Beach.  Students should bring their JDRF envelopes to the walk if they have them.

Date: Saturday, June 4th

Location: Ave Maria Schoolyard at 158-20 101st

Check-in: 9:00 AM

Starts: 10:30 AM

Length of walk: 5K

Students can earn up to 5 hours of community service by participating in the walk!

Little North Pole

JDRF Annual Little North Pole event will be this Sunday December 6th from 2:30-5:00 at 144-03 Neponsit Avenue. There will be numerous performances, gift giveaway, food stands all are invited! Note: this is not a Scholars’ Academy sponsored or supervised event.

STEM Career Fair!

Dear high school students and families,

You are invited to attend the 4th Annual STEM Career Day on Tuesday, November 3rd to learn first-hand about career pathways in these fields by visiting up to two New York City companies for an inside look. Participating students will get the opportunity to visit and chat with staff from the companies they visit. Sessions take place at individual companies from 10:00-11:30am and 1:00-2:30pm.
