SCEF Update

SCEF raised $1.3M last year with help and participation from over 66% of CLC families! Thank you for all of your support of the SCCLCFA and SCEF. It made a huge difference to our staffing and program offerings for this 2009-2010 school year!

SCEF Grows as State Revenue Shrinks 

Since 2006-07, state funding for public education in San Carlos has fallen 21%, and it is expected that the district will need to make more cuts in the next two years*.  Many other districts have already been forced to cut key programs like Music, Library, and PE, but  San Carlos has been able to retain all of its programs through the growth of the SCEF and local parcel taxes.

The Spring Fling Planning Committee invites you to join us as we plan this year’s districtwide fundraiser - MAGICAL MASQUERADE:  Unmask the Benefits of Education!  This fun, community-wide gala includes dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions, a raffle, Fund-A-Need and other surprises (like a real diamond in your martini) and together we raised over $360,000 last year!  With only 5 months left to plan this magical ball, we need your help.  Please consider one or more of the following ways to contribute:


v  Donate an auction item online at or use the forms in your school office.  Both the silent and live auctions are key fundraisers and we cannot do either without quality goods, parties/events and services to sell!  For example, do you or someone you know own a vacation home?  Have airline miles?  Access to sporting, concert, theater, or other events?  Like to entertain?  Work somewhere unique or fun?  Please help our schools by making an auction donation.  Contact Lisa Costello at 654-1610 or if you have any donation questions.  The donation deadline is Friday, November 13, 2009.


v  Volunteer for one of the many committees.  We are looking for people to help with donations, publicity, Fund-A-Need, casino/poker tournament, silent auction, and live auction.  Please contact the Spring Fling Volunteer Coordinator, Maria Davies at 766-9375 or


v  Come learn more by attending the next planning committee meeting on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the District Conference room (off Cedar near Central).


v  Save the date:   Spring Fling will be on March 6, 2010 at the San Mateo Events Center.
