My name is Rebecca Henry and I have been teaching 8th grade mathematics since 1998, beginning at MNMS in the fall of 2000.  During the 2008-2009 school year, I spent time with the US Peace Corps in Tanzania studying Swahili and the Tanzanian education system.  I learned a lot about cultures, including our own, and the flaws, frustrations, and positive aspects of educational systems worldwide.  During the spring semester of 2017 I was on sabbatical working on a graduate certificate in Children's Literature at Penn State. In addition to finding ways to incorporate literature across various curricula, I simply love to read, so this program was a good fit for me.

I am a Penn State graduate and was a member of the Blue Band while in college. I did not play an instrument in the Blue Band, as violin is a bit difficult with which to march! Instead, I twirled a flag as a member of the colorguard  and enjoyed many fabulous experiences with that group.

Throughout my years at MNMS I have had the opportunity to work with students in and outside of the classroom.  On team, I have taught Math 8, Advanced Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra and Geometry 8.  I've also worked with former students tutoring Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus.  Extracurricular activities I've enjoyed include working with the MNMS Drama Club, Knowledge Masters, and coaching the MathCounts team.
