Please review the attached documents which share the final exam schedules and important information for families and students.  As a reminder to all, please note that busses will run at regular times during exam week.  Students are expected to be at SHS during their exam times ONLY, during this week.  If they have transportation available to enable them to come and go for their exams, they may do so.  If they would like to study at the High School, the Cafeteria, Learning Commons and Study Center will be open and supervised during school hours so that students may study.  Students and teachers may not move or change exam times with the permission of the Principal.   We hope these schedules assist your families for planning purposes.

Susan J. Ketch Appointed Principal of SHS

posted May 17, 2019, 10:34 AM by Karen Sprague

On Thursday, May 16, 2019 the Scarborough Board of Education unanimously accepted Superintendent Kukenberger’s recommendation to appointment Susan J. Ketch to the position of Scarborough High School Principal pending the completion of successful contract negotiations. Dr. Kukenberger stated, “All who know Ms. Ketch will confirm that she is a passionate educational leader who advocates for all students. Ms. Ketch’s inclusive, whole student philosophy will serve our students, staff, and families well.” Susan Ketch has been employed by the Scarborough Public School district since 1984. It did not take long for her leadership abilities to be noticed. After three years she was assigned the position of Lead Teacher for the K-12 Fine Arts Department. In 1992 she was promoted to Associate Principal of Scarborough High School. Then, in 1997 she took on a dual role as the Alternative Education Director and Assistant Principal of Scarborough High School. Ms. Ketch has remained in the Assistant Principal role for over 25 years. Last year, Ms. Ketch stepped up during a contentious time in our community to take on the role of Scarborough High Principal, serving as the interim and proving to our staff, students, and families just how dedicated she is to the success of our students.

ON Semiconductor Field Visit

On May 15th, fifteen SHS freshmen attended a visit to ON Semiconductor in South Portland to learn about the many different career options available for students interested in science, technology, math and engineering. Presenters included IT specialists, process engineers, engineering technicians and more. Students not only learned about the products ON Semiconductor designs and manufactures, but also the job descriptions, training opportunities and benefits of working for this Fortune 500 company with operations in a town right next door.  As we toured some of the labs, students were able to see how the company makes IT products and solutions for a wide array of industries, including automotive, energy, computing, medical and consumer products.
