Child Care Programs

The goal of our programs is to promote the physical, mental, social, and emotional development of each child by providing a high-quality child care program. Programs include a nutritious snack every day, outside play or indoor physical activity, crafts, special projects, and quiet times. We view the home, school, community, and child care settings as complementary and interrelated domains that affect children’s growth and development.
A list of all current child care and summer day camp programs is maintained in WebTrac, our online program registration service.  To learn more about current offerings or for a certain type of activity, click the link below.

Registration Process for Child Care 2019-20

Registration for the 2019-20 child care program begins Wednesday, April 10, and remains open until school sites are full. This program does require an in-person registration at Scarborough Town Hall, which will be open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm every day that week.

Due to the craziness of last year’s registration and our prediction of similar happenings this year, we have decided to streamline the process to make it more efficient for everyone:

Current/Past Child Care Users

  • All current child care users needing services again MUST call the Community Services Office at 207-730-4150 to update their household information. We will be available to take your calls Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. This update phone call needs to be placed between March 4 and April 5. This call should not take any more than 10 minutes to complete.
  • Please be sure to have the following information ready: Parent(s) address(es), phone numbers, email address(es), child/ren’s dates of birth and medical information, and emergency contacts beyond parents. We will also need to input your chosen credit or debit card for billing so please have that available. New members can be added to your account during this update process, as well.
  • Once we have updated all information over the phone, we will make note of the update so that when you arrive to register for the program in person at Town Hall, it will be a relatively quick process.
  • Beginning Wednesday, April 10, households who have completed the phone update process will enter Scarborough Town Hall and proceed directly back to Council Chambers. Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis so be sure to take a ticket and wait until you are called to the registration desk.
  • We will register your child/ren for your chosen days, have you complete one waiver sheet per child, and take your registration payment, which is $125 per child for the 2019-20 school year. This payment MUST be paid by cash or check.
  • If you choose to pay the registration fee by card, you will be required to register in the Community Services Office on the 3rd floor. This is where first-time child care users will be registering that day so there may be wait times.
  • Any household that has not completed the phone update process ahead of April 10 will also be required to complete the child care registration in the Community Services Office.

New to Child Care Program

  • Households who are new to the Community Services child care program may call our office ahead of time at 207-730-4150 to make sure we have all necessary information in our registration system. This will help to cut down on the registration wait times beginning Wednesday, April 10.
  • Registration for the 2019-20 school year opens on April 10. Registration takes place at Scarborough Town Hall at 259 US Route One. We are open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm each weekday. New households will need to complete their registration in our office on the third floor.
  • Please be sure to bring your chosen debit or credit card so that we may set up your monthly or bi-monthly billing.
  • We will register your child/ren for your chosen days, have you complete one waiver sheet per child, and take your registration payment, which is $125 per child for the 2019-20 school year. This payment may be paid by cash, check, or debit card.

For details on each program, please refer to our 2019-20 Parent Handbook.

Child Care for 2018-19 School Year

Registration for the 2018-19 before-school and after-school child care programs began March 12. Registrations must be completed in person and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis based on school site availability.

Due to necessary paperwork, all registrations must be completed in person in the Community Services Office. We are open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. NEW this year, we will no longer be processing EFT forms for payment plans. When you come to register, please be sure to bring the credit or debit card you would like your monthly or bi-monthly payments to be withdrawn from. All other paperwork will print out at registration and can be completed in person. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee per child that is due at the time of registration. This fee may be paid by cash, check, or debit card.

K-5 School-Age Child Care

Our School-Age Child Care program is designed to provide children in kindergarten through fifth grade a safe and exciting place to be during their out-of-school hours. We are a non-profit recreational program, complying with all of the rules for the licensing of child care facilities established by the State of Maine.

Club Teen After-School Program

The Club Teen program is designed to provide middle school students a safe and inviting place to be during their out-of-school hours. Club Teen is located in the Middle School Cafeteria (and occasionally in the Applied Humanities Room or Narragansett Building), with time and space for homework, recreational activities, clubs, sports, as well as free time. NEW this year, we will be providing before-school care services as part of the Club Teen package.

Child Care Registration 2018-19

  • Registrations for 2018-19 for all children will be accepted starting Monday, March 12. Household balances must be up to date.
  • When you stop by the Community Services Office to register, we will update all of your household and family member information in our system and have you sign a few waivers. All paperwork will print out at the time of registration.
  • A non-refundable registration fee of $100 will be expected upon registration.
  • NEW this year, we will no longer be processing EFT forms for payment plans. When you come to register, please be sure to bring the credit or debit card you would like your monthly or bi-monthly payments to be withdrawn from. Only one card is permitted per child (we cannot split one child's fees between two cards).
  • Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Unless you have been notified that you have been placed on a waiting list, you are guaranteed a spot in the Child Care or Club Teen program.
  • There is a three-day wait period (three business days) if registering anytime after the first day of school in September (as long as spots are available).
  • Waiting lists for spots will be started and maintained as necessary for each site. Participants will be notified if they have been placed on a waiting list within one week of registering for the program.
