Northwestern Team Camp

Post date: Jul 25, 2017 1:54:28 AM

**I just received a new schedule - the first games will start at 10am on Friday (not 11am). See attached for the latest schedule.

Camp is July 28-29th at Northwestern College in Orange City. Athletes are responsible for getting themselves to and from camp.

We have 2 teams (JV and Varsity) both playing in the varsity level bracket, so competition will be tough for all. Each team will play 4 games/day (almost all back to back). SBL Black plays in the earliest session followed by SBL Orange. Our goal is to evaluate players and lineups and try new things while giving each girl the maximum amount of playing time possible. We will move players between teams on Day 2 (take a breath, your summer work has not gone unnoticed.) Come early/stay late to support the other team!

Camp Format:

"We are playing 2 games to 25 with a cap of 27. We are also having a running clock of 35 minutes. If your 2 games finish before the 35 minutes is up, start a 3rd game and play until the 35 minutes is up. If the 35 minute clock runs out, continue the volley until it is over and then the match will be done.

Be at your court on time for the next match. There is only 5 minutes between matches, some have 10 minutes due to it is the first match of the day for the teams and it will allow them to warm-up. We plan on starting the next 35 minutes at the exact time it says on the schedule.

Coaches get 1 timeout per set

I think it is important to remember this is a camp, and a way for your team to try out new things, etc. We will not be posting any scores, how many games you won or lost or determining a champion.

We will be having one official per court so she will try to see everything, if the call is way away from her – and she didn’t see if, then just be honest and say it was in or out or she will call a replay.

***Each team that is playing will need to provide a linesman for each game that they are playing. It can be someone from the second team, or a parent, or a player."
