Teachers for Fall 2013- Spring 2014:

Inline image 2Katie Craig '16, from Fredericksburg, VA, is a sophomore dance and business double major and gender studies minor at Sweet Briar College. She is also a member of the Leadership Certificate Program.  She has danced since 3 years old, and was a student at Richmond Ballet, the state ballet of Virginia, for 12 years in their Pre-Professional program. She has studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, character (folk), musical theater and modern dance. She also spent the four summers previous to attending Sweet Briar studying at UNCSA, the exclusive affiliate school of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre, at the time under the direction of Ethan Stiefel. In the summer of 2013 she studied with AXIS dance company in San Francisco, studying modern technique and the choreographic exploration of physically integrated dance. Future plans include graduate school in dance. Katie will teach Creative Dance for ages 6-7.

Jessica Murphy'13,
a Lynchburg native, is a 5th year dance and liberal studies (elementary education) double major with plans to pursue a Masters in the Art of Teaching degree. Her solo choreography represented Sweet Briar at the mid-Atlantic American College Dance Festival at Elon University in 2011. She has studied dance in Italy through Pro Danza 2011 and attended the dance and the Child international (daCi) Conference in Taipei, Taiwan in 2012. Jessica will teach Modern Dance and Choreography for 8-10.

Sade' Fountain'15, is a junior. She plans to double major in dance and musical theatre. Prior to attending Sweet Briar she danced at Meredith Dance of School in Danville, Va where she studied ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. She currently is a member of the Ministry in Motion liturgical praise ministry and has cooperated with Baptist Christian Fellowship Ministry to start a male praise team. For the past two summers she has been involved in Danville's only black box theater, Union Street Theatre; performing in their summer season musicals, Willy Wonka, Camp Rock, and Songs for a New World. Sade will be teaching Creative Dance for 4-5 and Jazz & Hip Hop.

Katherine Hoyt’15 is a junior from Houston, Texas. Prior to attending Sweet Briar College, Katherine studied and competed in Scottish dance. Last year as a first year Sweet Briar student she performed  in faculty and guest artist works in the spring dance concert, as well as creating her own choreography for the May Composition Showing. Katherine will teach Scottish Dance.
