School Counselors help all students reach their fullest potential!

How will I work with students?

  • Individually
    • Working individually with students with a issue or concern that they have. This can be done through games and activities which allows the child to say through play what they may struggle with putting into words.
  • Small Groups
    • Students who have a shared concern will come together and process their thoughts and feelings as a group in order to work through their concerns. Some topics are change in families, grief/loss, social skills or friendship skills.
  • Classroom Lessons
    • I visit classrooms and present lessons to help students "fill their toolboxes" with skills such as problem solving, decision making and being a respectful citizen. Lessons are flexible so if something comes up and a specific area needs to be addressed I the classroom I am able to do so.
  • Lunch Bunches
    • These small groups meet in my office for lunch as a time to get to know each other, talk about our peaches and pits (which is what we call our high and lows of the day) and any other concerns or discussions that students want to share. All students are able to request a lunch bunch.

Remember: Counseling services are available to ALL students, not just those in crisis situations.  Counseling focuses on prevention, intervention, and/or treatment.
