Medications At School

Parents must contact the school nurse if their child needs to take medication during the school day.  All medication, including over-the-counter and prescription medicines, must be in their original container and brought to school by a responsible adult.  Students may not carry any medication to and from school with the exception of inhalers for asthma and Epi-Pens for severe allergic reactions.  SRSD Policy JLCD

Written permission with a doctor's order for prescription medication must be obtained prior to the nurse dispensing medications.  Any changes in the medication throughout the school year must also have a doctor's order.  Medication that is over-the-counter only needs to have a written note from a parent/guardian giving the nurse permission to dispense the medication.

Authorization to dispense medication and permission to carry an inhaler form is attached below.
