Expectations and Online Searching
Please be aware that last week we had a situation with two students searching for highly inappropriate content on their school iPads when they were supposed to be using their iPads for research. Both issues were discovered through the internet history on the devices and both have been addressed. Both students have lost technology privileges for a determined amount of time and John has spoken with both families. Please be sure that your students are searching using KidRex or the other designated safe search engines only. Google should never be used at school, whether for research or image searching. If you are suspicious of any online activity with any of your students, please let me know and I can show you how to check the internet history. Please see me if you have any questions.

Computer Lab Openings!
Now that FASTT Math is no longer being used, the calendar for the Media Center computer lab has opened up! If you would like to bring your class in to do whole class activities such as TypingWeb, Google Drive work, research, etc. please let me know and we can book a time for you. I'm happy to have the space set up for you or to work with you on a specific lesson or activity.

NAEP in the Media Center
On Tuesday, February 3, NAEP testing for fourth grade will take place in the Media Center. There will be two sessions: 9:30-11:30 and 12:20-2:20. There will be no book choice during these testing sessions.

Tech Spotlight
Great things are continuing to happen at BMS! A few second and third grade classes have begun to use the Socrative app as an assessment tool in the classroom. FIfth grades continue to work on their regions projects and have been busy image searching and script writing. Edmodo, a school social networking tool, has been introduced to a fifth grade. One third grade has been working with Book Creator to publish their informational writing.
