Gilford District PTA
Gilford District Parent Teacher Association serves GES, GMS and GHS and we need your support! We are a registered non-profit organization affiliated with National PTA and New Hampshire PTA and whose mission is: "To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children." Per our By-Laws, PTA meets the first Tuesday of every month through the academic year at 7:00 pm in the Michael E. Tocci Library at GES unless otherwise rescheduled with sufficient notice.
In a recent issue of PTA's Our Children magazine, Sherri Wilson recognized that "over 40 years of research clearly shows a positive and convincing relationship between family engagement and student success, regardless of race/ethnicity, class, or parents' level of education. When families are involved in their children's learning at home and at school, children do better in school." If that isn't reason enough to involve yourself in your child(ren)'s education, here are some more: to get connected; to discover great resources; to tap into a network of parents and teachers; to be heard, and to advocate for positive change and make your schools the best they can be. There are tangible benefits, too, that come along with being involved with PTA, including through these great companies: AARP, Schwan's, Sylvan Learning, Staples, Hertz, Sharp, and MetLife Auto & Home. Visit pta.org/benefits for more info.

GILFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
GES Volunteer Steering Committee is a group of GES parents who serve at the pleasure of the Principal and coordinate volunteer efforts at the school. We customarily meet the first Friday of the month through the academic year at 2:00 pm, GES. All GES parents are welcome to attend meetings. Meetings are subject to change, however, with notice.
We also maintain an e-mail database so that if you are interested in volunteering at GES but are not sure how, then you may e-mail us and we will add you to our contact list and then e-mail you as volunteering opportunities come up. We use software from Signup.com, a great program to help you organize volunteer responsibilities and send you reminders in advance of events. Any questions about this can be directed to email@example.com or see any member.
Save those box tops from your food containers and send them in with your child(ren). They will make their way to Mrs. Nute who collects them and turns them in for new books for the GES Library. Save them and send them in with the kids to bring to Mrs. Nute. Every little bit helps and they really do make a difference.
Thank you to all who attended the mandatory program on volunteering and bullying policies. This IS required every year for all volunteers, substitutes, coaches, and anyone offering their time in the schools. Thank you Student Services Director Esther Kennedy for sharing your time with us! If you missed the training, there will be another held Dec 6th at the 7:00PM PTA Meeting.
ART ART ART!!! Kim Valpey welcomes volunteers in her art room. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!! We are always in need of people to help re-shelf leveled reading books. This is a great volunteer position for someone who needs flexibility in times for volunteering. It can be done at your own leisure during school hours. Please contact Gladys Clausen at email@example.com if you are interested in helping out!

I Love Saving Club for Kids
All GES students are welcome to join the I LOVE SAVING CLUB FOR KIDS, a banking program sponsored by Bank of New Hampshire. This year, learners in grades K through 4 may bring in deposits directly to the GES library each Thursday morning to volunteer "tellers" and have their names entered for a prize each week. Deposits are made to the bank for you! Please use the red bank deposit bags which are issued upon completion of all paperwork and encourage learns to fill out their own deposit slips and help with balancing their books. Contact Patty Hinds in the GES office for questions or if you are interested in volunteering for this program. To see more information on the bank's program, click here: Kids Savings Club
