Subject: NH, VT, MA and RI and Eastern Canada joining forces?
Some recent events have caused us to rethink the territories in New England
and I would like to recommend the combination of NH, VT, MA and RI into one
territory. This would allow teams in the those states to compete in
tournaments in other states to qualify for the championship event. By
combining the states, the number of WC spots would be 21 for this new
region. This is how it would breakdown.
*1* 2/22 Competition at NHTI (Excellence Winner)
*16* 3/1 Championship at QCC (Excellence, 3 Champions, 3 Finalist,
6 Semifinalist, Design Winner, Programming Skills Winner, Robot
*2* Global Ranking 2 Highest Programming not already qualified
*2* Global Ranking 2 Highest Driver not already qualified
The Championship at QCC would become a two day event for VRC HS, 1 day for
VRC Middle School and 1 day for IQ.
There are currently two new Canadian teams in the Montreal that have no
place to place. We have been asked to include them with our region this
year since we are already a melting pot of states in the championship. I
have agreed to this until their numbers increase and they can host their
own event. This is another reason for these late changes.
Please let me know your thoughts. I have spoken with several of you
already when Brad and I were brainstorming this concept. If there are no
major issues, I will send an email to the teams this week explaining the
territory changes along with an event listing for the new region
