We are embarking on a search for a new principal this spring, and the board wanted to explain the process to the community, and invite those interested in participating in the process to join.

Superintendent Sherman has received many application packets and will screen nine of the candidates.  Six candidates will be invited to participate in interviews at Deerfield Community School. Those interviews have been scheduled for Wednesday, May 16th, from 3:30-6:30.  A “carousel” interview process will be used, allowing for maximum participation from staff and community members.

This week the steering committee, which is led by Assistant Principal Brian Grieve and consists of a representative grouping of staff from all levels of DCS, is gathering relevant questions to ask our candidates. This committee will lead groups comprised of community members, teachers, support staff and administrators who will be speaking with and evaluating candidates next Wednesday, the 16th.

.

On Wednesday, May 23rd, there will be a public “meet and greet” with the finalists from 4:30-5:30 pm at DCS prior to the school board meeting.  During this event community members will be able to offer general feedback to the school board.  Then at 6:00 pm the board will interview the finalists. This meeting will provide a third round of interviews for the candidates, and we hope to have a decision soon after.

Community members may apply to participate in the carousel interview process on the 16th, and to do so they should email Brian Grieve at bgrieve@sau53.org.
