New Google Restrictions

posted Apr 19, 2018, 1:56 PM by Debbie Boisvert

To support an effective educational environment at DCS we are in the process of restricting certain features of  student school accounts and school equipment including non educational apps, extensions and websites, and the ability to access a secondary google account when logged into a school account.

This is a work in progress and will take time to fully implement. If you or child finds an app or extension that is not now accessible that should be or that should be limited in access please email Deb Boisvert dboisvert@sau53.org. This implementation is a process and we will need your help in refining these restrictions. .

At this time we would also like to remind you that Google does not allow students under the age of 13 to have independent google accounts unless they are in an educational domain. If you want your child to have a home Google account you can use Google Family Link to set up a supervise account https://families.google.com/familylink/

If you are interested in learning more about the google environment that we have at school we will be having a Parent/Child google For Grownups night

Google for Grownups - Wednesday May 23 6:00-7:00pm

We use Google for Education is a powerful tool that is used extensively by students throughout our school. Our students often know more that their parents about how it works. Come to this hands on event and learn from kids about how to use Google with your child and for your own purposes. Please sign up in advance as this event is limited. You don't need to bring your child but parent/child teams are encouraged.
