The School Board would like to thank all of the voters who attended the Deerfield School District Deliberative Session on the February 11th. Here is an update on the current status of the warrants.
Article 1: The voters decided to amend the proposed operating budget to ~$13.02 million. The default budget is still the same, so in March voters will be choosing between $13.02 million and $12.94 million (default budget) for the 2017-2018 budget.
Articles 2-6: The voters decided to put these on the March warrant without any changes.
Article 7: The voters decided to amend the wording of this article. It now asks whether voters would like the school district to form a committee "to recommend alternative world-class academic standards", as well as whether voters would like the district "to notify parents of their children’s participation in Smarter Balanced testing".
Article 8: The voters decided to amend the wording of this article. It now asks whether voters would like the school district to monitor its involvement in Performance Assessment Competency Education (PACE) and competency-based education.
Articles 9-10: The wording of these articles were changed to be in compliance with NH state Law.
Voting day for these warrant articles is Tuesday, March 14, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the the town hall. Voters will also be electing two members to three-year terms on the school board that day. Alphabetically, the candidates are:
Jim Deely (current board member), Ken Heckman (current board member), Leila Thompson, Kevin Verville
We look forward to seeing you there!
