General Info About Kindergarten Assessments: In Kindergarten we screen every student in the spring before their kindergarten year begins. At the beginning of the year, all students are assessed using DIBELS, which takes place 3 times during the year (fall, winter & spring). We also use the school-wide diagnostic assessment, iReady. This assessment will also take place 3 times. Classroom teachers will use many other forms of assessments at various times within their classroom. These may be observation, student work, paper/pencil, unit checks or oral assessments. All of this information is gathered to help us create ‘next steps’ in our instruction; to give students what they need to further build on their knowledge. We also use all of this data to help create groups in our classroom or during our intervention time.
