What is the Title 1 Program at Milan Village School?
My name is Tracey King and I am the Title 1 Teacher/Project Manager for Milan Village School. Title 1 is a federally funded program providing supplemental services to students. At Milan Village School, I teach Reading and Language Arts which includes Reading, Phonics, Spelling, Handwriting, Grammar, Writing, and Study Skills. I work with students in Grades K-6 in small groups and individually in the classroom and in the Title 1 room. I teach reading strategies appropriate to the student's reading level. Emphasis is placed on fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I work closely with your child's classroom teacher to monitor your child's progress.

How are you involved as parents?
Parent involvement is a key component of the Title 1 Program. l communicate with parents through Open Houses, monthly newsletters- "Parents Make a Difference", the annual Title 1 meeting held in January, and notes sent to parents about their child's work and progress. I present workshops for parents on reading strategies and how you can to help your child at home. Your input on surveys and evaluations is important to the success of this program.
